Hermes Illuminates MEXICO’S 150m Paragon Tower with PR LEDS
2016-04-26

Multi-brand distributors, Hermes Music México, have carried out a stupendous architectural lighting project in the Santa Fe district of México City.

They have illuminated the 151 meters high Paragon Tower (dominated by the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental Santa Fe) with LED color washes from one of their principal suppliers, PR Lighting.

“The client wanted to enhance the building itself on a permanent basis,” explained Hermes lighting specialist, Ricardo R Segura de la Cruz.

Hermes had been approached by locally-based audio and technology company Subsuelo, who were also involved in the project and Ricardo himself was tasked with coming up with the lighting design. “I was asked to cover the whole building façade,” he explained. “They already had other proposals in from Italian and Colombian companies, but they weren’t using LEDs, which would have resulted in high energy costs.”

Instead he turned to four of PR Lighting’s Arc Led 3216 as the main effect to light the top of the building, mounted at the service balconies around 25 metres away from the edifice. These are supported by ten XPar 390’s, which highlight the base. All lightingswitches on automatically via the timer at 7pm every evening and runs until dawn.

“I have worked with PR Lighting in the past and I knew that in order to reach that height the only solution was the ARC LED 3216,” Ricardo continued.

This twin-head version of the ARC LED 3108 is fully featured, with a staggering 216 x 3W LEDs with RGBW linear colour mixing and a power consumption of just 700W. It is perfect for outdoor use and is highly versatile.

Meanwhile, an XPar 390 has been assigned to the base of each of the ten single columns of the building.

The designer says he was guided by management as to the colour palette, selecting compatible colors depending on the month that was being celebrated, intermixed with the company’s corporate colors.Control is via a DMX interface and White Box by Wireless Solution.

In summary, Ricardo R Segura de la Cruz states, “The biggest challenge was to reach the top of the building, and this we achieved. Consequently the clients are more than happy with the result, justifying their appointment of Hermes to undertake this difficult project.

“Many people have been lining up at the building to take pictures and it has created a completely different atmosphere in the area. And from a commercial perspective the objective has been achieved, as many more people are visiting the restaurants inside the building.”
